Nestled in the heart of Maryland, the picturesque county of Frederick is home to CULTA’s second dispensary. Known for its charming historic districts and scenic landscapes, it was the perfect backdrop for our expansion. From its cobblestone streets and local boutiques to the surrounding rolling hills, Frederick embodies the spirit of growth —making it an ideal setting for our continued mission to elevate the cannabis experience. Here are some of our favorite things to do in nearby Frederick, Maryland.
Historic Downtown Frederick
Frederick is a place with small-city charm and big-city buzz, and nothing exemplifies this more than its absolutely gorgeous, historic downtown. Lined with over 200 specialty shops, craft breweries, art galleries, and restaurants, it’s a great place to spend a couple of hours or an entire day. The blend of historic architecture and modern attractions creates a unique atmosphere that’s both vibrant and welcoming. If you’re heading to CULTA Urbana, make plans for lunch or dinner afterward — if the weather is warm, narrow your restaurant search down to one with outdoor dining options. Brewer’s Alley is one of our favorites, and its outdoor dining area is a great place to catch the sunset with a glass of wine and handmade pizza.
Carroll Creek Linear Park
Located just nine miles from our CULTA Urbana dispensary, Carroll Creek Linear Park is a 1.5-mile park that stretches through the center of the historic district. Intended to be a community meeting place, it hosts outdoor concerts, plays, and school and city functions. You can even rent parts of the park for private events, making it a perfect setting for weddings or other special celebrations. The beautifully maintained water features and lush landscaping create a peaceful backdrop for a leisurely stroll. Strolled through the park and want to spend even more time outdoors? The “Up the Creek” walking tour is a great choice. The self-guided tour will take you past sculptures, public art installations, historic points of interest, and the next spot on our list — McClintock Distilling Company.
McClintock Distilling
This award-winning organic distillery is located in downtown Frederick, Maryland, so you’ll probably come across it while you’re out adventuring. They produce several popular spirits, including gin, vodka, whiskey, and cordials, and all are crafted from 100% organic grains. Their commitment to sustainability and quality has earned them national recognition in the craft spirits community. Tours and tastings can be booked through their website, where you’ll also be able to find cocktail recipes featuring their spirits. Throughout the year they also hold special events, tours, classes, and their renovated tasting room is available for rent for different occasions. Tell ‘em CULTA sent you!
Carroll Creek Brewing District
Located at the east end of the Carroll Creek Linear Park, the Carroll Creek Brewing District is a cluster of breweries with rotating taps and food trucks. Here’s a quick look at the breweries and taprooms you’ll find in the district:
- Attaboy Beer- Attaboy offers three different seating areas (the taproom, garage, and beer garden), and their beer garden is heated during winter months. Attaboy thrives on creativity, and they release a different experimental beer each week. Kid and dog friendly!
- Attaboy Barrel House- Though this taproom is reserved for weddings and private events, its open to the public on Saturdays from 12-10PM. Here you can find small-batch brews that are tart, fruity, funky, and aged in wine barrels. Play a game of shuffleboard while you’re there!
- RAK Brewery- RAK Brewery is the newest addition to the Carroll Creek Brewing District, and opened in December 2023. Here you’ll find food trucks serving up a variety of food and delicious brews made by head brewer Branden Roth.
- Idiom Brewing Company- Known for their hoppy IPAs and fruited sours, Idiom Brewing Company has ample seating inside and out and is another dog and kid-friendly spot to hit. Patrons are welcome to bring their own food, but there’s also a food truck parked behind the brewery daily.
- Steinhardt Brewery- As you may have guessed by the name, Steinhardt Brewery prides itself on its Bavarian and Belgian-style beers and has an interior that resembles a European beer hall. Can’t decide what to try? Steinhardt offers flights so you can try stouts, lagers, and their ales.
Frederick Keys Baseball
Why drive to Baltimore for an Orioles game when you can catch a minor league baseball game right in Frederick? You might even see a major league player before they make it big — three players from the 2024 roster alone have signed professional contracts! Until 2020 the Keys were classified as the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and in 2021 they became a founding member of the MLB Draft League. The team has a rich history of developing future stars, with past players like Nick Markakis and Manny Machado making waves in the majors. So grab your baseball cap and get ready to enjoy some peanuts and cracker jack at the great ball game.
