To legally use medical cannabis in Maryland, you’ll need to apply for a medical card.
Find a Registered Physician
To work with a licensed Maryland medical cannabis doctor, you’ll need to register as a patient with Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA).
Once registered, you must visit an MCA-approved physician for a written certification, the cost of which varies according to each physician. Afterward, the following documentation is required to complete the process:
- A written certification from a provider registered with the MCA
- Electronic copy of a valid US government-issued photo ID and proof of Maryland address
- Electronic copy of a clear, recent photo
- The patient’s Social Security Number
Renew Your Medical Card
After you are approved for the program, you will need to renew your medical certification number every year with your doctor. You will also need to renew your medical patient number every three years with the MCA.
